Gracy Lynn Cothren

Gracy Lynn was born September 28, 2013 at 9:28 am weighing in at 7lbs 12 oz!  My water broke at 1:25 am.  Phillip and I headed out to the hospital around 2:00.  We finally got in a room around 3:00. Shawnee mission was so busy and they had no rooms available.  I was dilated to 4 when I got there.   I got my epidural at 5:30 and delivered at 9:28 after only pushing for 8 minutes.  Longest 8 minutes of my life!  My epidural did not work and i felt everything.  I'm so happy that everyone was able to be there.  Lisa, was my biggest supporter.  I'm not sure I would've been able to do it without her.  She never left my side the entire time.  Carolyn was even able to be there even though Bo was in the hospital.  She made it just in time.

We had a ton of visitors.  We want to thank everyone who visited us in the hospital and at home.  We are finally settled in and getting used to having another little one in the family!

Most importantly I'm thankful for the way our little guy reacted to seeing Gracy for the first time.  Brody walked in and asked where his baby sister was and I said...she's right here.  Phillip picked Brody up and Brody said....awwww, she looks just like me.  I instantly had tears in my eyes.  I knew that we were going to be okay!!!!!

1st day of PRE-K

Boy oh boy did this kid have fun yesterday. Brody was so excited for his first day OF school. He was such a big guy. He told us goodbye and off he went playing with his friends. It was bitter sweet for me. I wanted to sit outside the window all day just to see how he did. He got to paint, play outside, read a book, and he got to read the letter from Mommy and Daddy. Brody was so excited to see us when we picked him up. He ran over to his daddy and gave him the BIGGEST hug! He wanted to show us what was in his backpack right away! SO PROUD!!! We took Brody to lunch. He couldn't wait to see the trains! We talked about school all through lunch! Brody got in the car where we gave him his surprise. This day was full of so much excitment that Brody didn't make it home. He was sound asleep before we even got out of the parking lot. Brody took a 3 hour nap. Now it was time for another surprise. Brody was going with Phillip and I to see a picture of his baby sister. He was so good. The lady would show Brody Gracy's hands and feet and Brody would yell out....Mommy...Look at her tooties! He also asked 10 times if she was coming out. Yep...most memorable moment was when Brody asked if he could sit up on the bed with me then asked if he could jump off! That boy I tell ya! Overall it was one of the best days ever!!!!

Brody meeting his Pre K teacher!

So the last few days I have done my best to prepare Brody about going to Preschool. Honestly he was not that excited about going to school. He was upset last night about going to meet his teacher and even asked me why he had to go. This morning was completely different. I woke Brody up around 7:45. I made him jelly toast for breakfast and a cup of chocolate milk....his favorite. I let him watch a little TV then it was time to brush his teeth and hair then get dressed. He's finally getting excited about school. He told me he was going to tell the teacher that he went to the beach with Becky, Bennett, and Brooklyn, that he likes to brush his teeth, and that there was a baby bird in the yard. We talked about his teacher's name. He kept calling her Mr. Schultz when it's really Mrs. We pulled up to school and Kenley and Candie pulled in right behind us. Brody and Kenley chatted for a minute about their backpacks and off we went! Brody walked into his classroom and the first thing he did was potty! He introdued himself to his teacher and started playing on the floor with daddy while mommy filled out all of the paper work and his note for the first day of school. Mrs. Shultz told Brody and Tyson (his new friend already) that they were going to paint the first day of school. Brody looked at me and asked me to get in my car and drive away. I think we will do just fine at school! I can't believe my baby is going to school. I can't believe time has gone by this quickly. Yesterday we brought our baby home from the hospital and today we are taking him to school. Brody, We are so proud of you. We can't wait to see what the school year brings for you! I'm looking forward to every single story good or bad! We love you very much!
